• When Jennie and Kathrine Adam started selling home-baked cakes in the early 1900s, little did they know their cottage business would become one of Britain's most beloved purveyors of sweets and savories. The sisters teamed up with the Arnett family and today, the fifth generation still runs Cartwright & Butler in coastal Yorkshire, where it all began. Made using an original recipe and the finest authentic ingredients, the company's fruitcake is an elegant holiday classic. The dense, buttery cake is studded with glacé cherries, golden sultanas and pecans. The traditional treat is highlighted with molasses and brandy, and crowned with fruit and nuts.
