Fast-casual Greek restaurant may soon become a Bethesda favorite.

Have you checked out the new Cava Grill on Bethesda Row?
The restaurant opened Tuesday at 4832 Bethesda Avenue, and Patch stopped by an event Monday evening that gave media and industry members a sneak peak into the much-hyped new restaurant.
Many there were describing the grill as a “Greek Chipotle.” The fast-casual take on the sit-down Greek-style Cava Mezze restaurants means that diners approach an assemble line and customize their food. Pick a salad, pita, or bowl, for example, top it with Greek-style spreads like tzatziki or hummus, and add toppings and your choice of meat (falafel for vegetarians). And if you’re feeling adventurous, add the “crazy feta” — the traditional Greek cheese with a double dose of heat.
Monday, Cava owners explained their vision of tweaking the Cava Mezze concept for budget and time-conscious Bethesdans to curious bloggers and media members. It’s definitely fast, but casual may be a bit too loose of a term. The décor is sleek, and there’s plenty of seating for sit-down diners — the place easily fit a packed house Monday.
A hearing for a liquor license is slated for Thursday, so diners may soon be able to enjoy a wine or beer with their meal.
Our guess is that Cava Grill may soon become a hot-spot for the business lunch crew and dinnertime diners alike, and with all the buzz, don’t be surprised to be confronted with a crowd here during peak hours.
