ETHNIC EATS

Three Bethesda Row restaurants to try this weekend.

This weekend, why not visit Greece, India and Lebanon by way of your tastebuds? Here are some of our favorite Bethesda Row eateries, including our newest neighbor, Kapnos Kouzina.

Kapnos Kouzina. Opened in March 2016, Kapnos Kouzina is a more homey version of the Arlington favorite. The food is reminiscent of what you’d be served for Sunday dinner in a quintessential Greek home. With rustic small plates and sharable platters, chef George Pagonis wanted to reflect his own experience growing up in a big Greek family. One to try: Fried Half Chicken with Preserved Lemon Brine and Burnt Honey Mustard.

Tandoori Nights. This popular Bethesda Row eatery is the perfect spot for a romantic date night. A modern take on classic Indian food, waiters take your orders on iPhones. You’ll find everything from Indian staples such as chicken tikka to appetizers such as the crispy spinach Kurkure Hariyali to Goan-style coconut-flavored fish. One to try: Curry-Leaf Scented Mojito.

Lebanese Taverna. Vegetarians flock to this Bethesda Row classic, which is well known for its mouth-watering hummus. The Abi-Najm family opened the first Taverna in 1979 and has grown the concept into one of DC’s most successful chains. Stop for a cocktail and bite after work and enjoy some great happy hour specials. One to try: Chicken Shwarma Sliders
