March Madness is upon us. Got your bracket all filled out? Here’s a thought. This year, along with winning money, how’d you like to lose a little weight?
Try the March Madness Bracket Challenge Workout from Men’s Health. To perform your own version of the challenge, you start by filling out your brackets. Then, ask your friends and family to join you. (Hey, fitness is more fun when you do it together.)
After each game, you do the corresponding reps of a chosen exercise. The exercises are up to you. Some suggestions: push-ups, sit-ups, knee raises, squats, tuck jumps, plank, mountain climbers, lunges, etc. Get creative and have fun with it! If you run out of ideas, you can always ask the trainers at Equinox for a few suggestions.
For each game played, you do an exercise, for a circuit of 16 exercises after Round 1 games.
For Round 2 games, you circuit through 8 exercises, 2 times each.
Round 3: 4 exercises, 3 times each.
Round 4: 2 exercises, 4 times each.
Round 5: 2 exercises, 5 times each.
Round 6: 1 exercise, 6 times.
If you don’t have a team in the championship, you do 6 sets of 20 burpees.
For any games where you don’t have either team, the exercise is 20 burpees. We know this sounds like a lot, but look at it this way: after consuming all those drinks and snacks during the games (hopefully at your favorite Bethesda Row restaurants), you’re going to need to work it off! This is the perfect challenge to get you back in the game—rooting for your team—and your health.
